Sustainable Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programs

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is under attack globally, and especially in the USA. In this talk I will reinforce the case for DEI and reflect on some of the missteps made in the past. In particular, the exclusionary influence of language will be touched upon. Drawing on the South African experience, I will suggest pathways to integrating DEI into everyday practice. A potentially useful metric to measure the effect of DEI programs will be introduced.
